Four Square - 42 is a tactical game that can expand from one board to many
Five is based on Pachisi, an ancient Indian game, and is similar to Ludo. Unlike either Pachisi or Ludo the full game of Five does not use a dice but tests pure skill. A dice is included should you wish to play a simplified version of the game.
Maldon is based on the Viking game and named after the famous battle between Vikings and Angles. Maldon is a balanced battle between unequal numbers of pieces. Whilst one player has the task of capturing a piece the other player has to engineer its escape.
t'other is a simple strategy game and was designed with a modern battle of the roses in mind. It's not possible to explain without giving the full rules but those not from either side of the Pennines will be relieved to know that even (some) southerners will be capable of playing the game and no phrase book is required!
Stopp is a race game that, like Five, dispenses with dice. The task is to get to the centre in an exact number of moves - and failing that you are forced to complete the circuit just one more time...
As much of Stopp's style of play is included in our Qiddle game, Stopp is now only available to order.
Guide is played on a Laita board and the rules for both games are included in the Laita game although Guide will need draughts pieces (not included with Laita) with opposite sides distinguishable (eg patterned and plain). Guide is a game of tactics for two players and extends some of the gameplay of draughts (checkers).
Kasam is a game that uses the escort method of capture - similar to our Maldon game. Although this method of play was once common it is now seen as a refreshing change. Much of the gameplay of Kasam is included in our new colourful game Wiggul and so Kasam will now only be available to order.
Surakarta is one of the very few games in the Fleur Designs' modular games' series that is unchanged from its original version. It is played on an original design of board and according to the original rules. It is included here simply because it's an excellent game and we haven't seen the game sold elsewhere.
RoCo was introduced to the world just before Christmas 2000 and is our best-selling single-board game. Like Five it is a race game without dice and can be played by 2 to 8 players (pieces for four players are supplied - please ask if more are required.)
HexAgon is our other game that made the list just before Christmas 2000. This game is a colourful version of Agon or Agony that was very popular last century - although the colours and the rules have been brought bang up to date. Hex-Agon is a race game a game of position and a (sort of) war game - all in one.
Chiaroscuro is an advanced version of t'other for 2, 3 or 4 players and is guaranteed to make your head reel!
Most of our games have simple rules - the interest is in the tactics - and although Chiaroscuro's rules are, like the others, short they are more complex and need the ultimate in concentration.
Do you have what it takes?
The Royal Game of Ur is the name given to a game found in the ruins of the ancient city of Ur. Although we have the board we have no idea of the rules used to play the game. Many others have added plausible rules and although they have kept to the original board shape they seem to have ignored the meaning of the playing squares. Our version adds meaning to the squares and third millennium styling to the shape of the board. It's Qiddle, not the Royal Game of Ur, but we think it keeps the best of the meaning behind the original game.
diversion is our first foray into the world of computer games. It isn't a computer game but we've taken the basic idea from a game we played once. We managed to extend the original idea and make it a game for up to four players instead of just 2 - not bad for a game that 'could only be played on a computer'!
At some time in the future we intend to release our version of the full game of Rithmomachy 'the game for Mathematicians and Philosophers'. That game will test your mathematics at 'A Level' standard. In the meantime here is our version of Rithma which, to suit its shortened name, may test your Primary school arithmetic!.
There will be a number of games in our Rithmomachy series and this original release of Rithma is essentially a puzzle and tactics game; you need to make your way to your own spaces but can be forced, by numbered spaces (in the form of shapes) and other pieces, to take a tortuous route.
Do contact us if you purchase Rithma as the next step in our series of Rithmomachy games will use this same board, and we will e-mail its rules to purchasers as soon as they are available.
Wiggul is a game where you can choose how to win. You can attempt to form a winning line of four pieces or you can win by capturing your opponent's pieces. Either way you're in a maze and your prospects can reverse at a moment's notice.
See further details on the Wiggul Information Page
We don't mind how you pronounce it as long as you play it!
We wanted to produce a game that was tuned for three players but we ended up with far more. Xephyr is a race game for 2 to 6 players and uses a dice; the latter is unusual for our games but it doesn't mean the element of skill is missing. The whole game is based on your skill of balance; can you get your first piece to its goal whilst keeping your second under control? If you can't then you can lose badly.
The others:
The following games have been superseded but can still be ordered:
Other games are under development. These include Rithmomachia - part of which is shown here:
The first copies of the game were available in May 2002.
